Oscar Rikard Rites
Today
Oscar J. Rikard, 84, Village One,
Sheffield, died Friday afternoon at 1:30 after an illiness of three months.
funeral services will be held this afternoon at 1:30 at Brown Service Chapel in Tuscumbia,
with burial following in Barton Cemetery. Rev. J. Luther Gaines, pastor of the Calvary
Baptist church, will officiate.
Mr. Rikard leaves the wife, Mrs. Eva Rikard; two sons, Tillman Rikard of Sheffield, Tom Rikard of Florence; two daughters, Mrs. J. G. Stout of
Tuscumbia, Miss Billie Mae Rikard of Sheffield; two brothers, L. H. Rikard of Cherokee, B. H. Rikard of Cherokee; three sisters, Mrs. A. H. Blankenship
of Tuscumbia, Mrs. J. W. Smith and Mrs. Della Thompson, both of Cherokee; 16
grandchildren, 14 great-grand-children.
Active bearers will be Oryan Rikard, Buford Melton, Cletus Smith, Tharman McNatt, Vernon
O'Neal, William Pilgrim.
Honorary bearers are Dr. Loren Gary, Raymond Sherrill, Amos Hester, Mack Johnson, John
Sockwell, Charles Thigpen, Arlin Malone.
Mr. Rikard was born in Franklin County, but had resided in Colbert practically all his
life. He was a retired farmer. Mr. Rikard was a member of the Baptist church.
Brown Service of Tuscumbia is in charge of arrangement. |
