Thorn-Hill Nuptial
A pretty
home was solemnized at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thos. W. Hill, in
this city last Wednesday evening at 8 o'clock when Mr. Tracy Thorn and Miss Katie Hill
were united in the holy bonds of matrimony. Rev. J. W. Partridge speaking the
beautiful and impressive words that united the two happy hearts as one.
This wedding culminates a right pretty little romance. Some
two months ago the happy couple having been friends for several months decided upon
marriage but owing to their youthful age the parents of the young lady objected. One
morning Tracy did not go to his customary work but Miss Katie started to school as usual
when Mr. Thorn met her with a buggy and they drove over to Tuscumbia. In the mean
time Mr. Hill had got wind of what had took place, he called up the officers in Tuscumbia
and asked them to take charge of his daughter on arrival there. When the couple
arrived the officers informed them of the instructions from Mr. Hill. Mr. Thorn
called up Mr. Hill and asked him if he would agree not subject Miss Katie to further
humiliation that he would at once bring her home. True to his promise they drove at
once back home.
The groom is a genial and industrious young man who holds a good
position with the Sloss-Sheffield Steel & Iron Co. and his fair bride is a beautiful
and accomplished young woman.
The only objections to their marriage by their parents was their
youthful age, the groom only being about 18 and the bride not quite 16.
